South By Southwest Film, Interactive, and Music Festival.
The South by Southwest (SXSW) Music and Media Conference showcases hundreds of musical acts from around the globe on over fifty stages in downtown Austin. Since 1987, SXSW has run this internationally recognized conference. By day, conference registrants do business in the SXSW Trade Show in the Austin Convention Center and partake of a full agenda of informative, provocative panel discussions, demo listening, trade show exhibits, and promotional opportunities featuring hundreds of industry representatives from around the world.. In 1994, SXSW added conferences and festivals for the film industry (SXSW Film) as well as for the blossoming interactive media (SXSW Interactive Festival) which now make up the beginning part of the week. Five nights of top-quality music in venues across the city close out the event. Now three industry events converge in Austin during a Texas-sized week, mirroring the ever-increasing convergence of entertainment/media outlets.

The Austin City Limits Music Festival. Austin City Limits (ACL) Music Festival is a three-day music and art festival taking place in the city’s Zilker Park. The Festival brings together a blend of more than 130 bands on eight stages, including rock, country, folk, Indie, Americana, hip-hop, reggae, and bluegrass, and attracts a crowd of about 65,000 music-lovers each of the festival's three days. The historic Austin City Limits television series focused for many years on Texas singer/songwriters, country and folk performers, and instrument specialists. Today, the award-winning television series now resembles the Festival lineup and spotlights artists of every musical genre from rhythm and blues to rock, jazz, and alternative. Performers on the PBS show in recent years have included Coldplay, Jack Johnson, Franz Ferdinand, Keith Urban, Ben Harper, and Elvis Costello.
